Two Indonesian student University of Teknokrat have won 2 and 3rd place in The 28th and ALSA National English Competition 2024 held by Indonesian University.
Both of these students are from the English Literature Studies of Literature Studies and Science Education of Teknowrat University of Indonesia, Rania Purisela and A. Vahry Lilam Son.
Rania Puriintera won the 2nd National Champion in the Newscasting category. In this competition, Rania and other participants were tested in reading the news using teleprompters and giving weather forecasts to the United States. His smooth performance took him to the finals, where he had to write a live report within ten minutes of the bridge incident being hit by a ship in the United States without Internet access.
In addition to Rania, Indonesian University of Teknocrat is also rewarded by other students, A. Vahry Lilam Son, who won the 3rd National Championship in speech category. Vahry showed confidence and rudeness that led him to the final round. In this round, participants are faced with five different themes: IT laws, online gambling, recycled batteries for electric vehicles, self- driving cars, and financial technology. Vahry has been announced as the 3rd National Speech Champion of the semi-finals.
In addition to Rania and Vahry, two other British Literature students, Silvia Damayanti and Elvira Febriana, were also participating in the competition, with Silvia being a top-five finalist in newcasting and Elvira in storytelling.
Suprayogi, SS., M.Hum., as a mentor and president of the British S1 Literature Studies Program, expressed his gratitude for the achievements that students have achieved.
"I am very grateful and proud of the achievements that the TEC team has achieved this year, which shows their discipline and effort in training," said Suprayogi.
The vice president of the Indonesian University of Teknocrat, Dr. H. Mahathir Muhammad, SE, also revealed his pride in the national achievement of students.
"This feat will certainly increase the student's value, especially when they enter the world of work after graduation," said Dr. Mahathir.
